I moved to central Alabama in September of 2000, from central Florida. Having always had an interest in photography I actively began to pursue that interest last year. After showing some of my work to friends and relatives (probably boring them terribly at times) and asking for their constructive criticism they wholeheartedly recommended I pursue my photography further and introduce my work to the public. With their encouragement, I approached my photography as a hobby but with the hope it would pay for itself and eventually afford me the opportunity to pursue it full time.
The public introduction of my work came through sharing a vendor booth with a friend at the Santuck Flea Market in Elmore County, Alabama. I only had a few framed photographs at the time but was anxious to see the public reaction. Friends and relatives are great for feedback, but too often they can be biased or at the very least, polite. I wanted the brutal truth, which only the public could provide. Fortunately, the reactions I received were very positive, and, I even sold a few pieces too! To me, the sales were the greatest compliment I could receive many people will say they like your work, but when someone actually PAYS their hard earned money for it, that is when you KNOW they like what you have to offer.
This positive interest in my work has led me to form my business, David K. Nahrstedt. My approach to photography is in an attempt to create fine art photos worthy of displaying in your home, office, etc. If you have a specific interest you would like to have photographed, or you have questions or comments, I will be happy to hear from you.
